...or had...

The tech can be had for peanuts or free. But I dread to think what the shelves and the basement set him back. I still want the shelves, though :-)

Less than you'd think, that's IKEA stuff if I ever saw it. They love that minimalist Sixties crap.

Yick to the basement, though. Pretentious shrine to things I don't care about. I'd have it full of drapes and sequins and sewing machines, and half-finished gowns and bellydance costumes :)

Correct, according to the comments it is indeed Ikea-ware. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, it doesn't seem to feature on their UK website...

Oh I'm sure I've seen very close matches to that floorstanding unit, and they definitely do shelving ranges that come in white with metal accents. You might not get an identical room, but why would you want one?

Really? that's a lot of kit...

Well, most of my collection was free. So if he was patient, he could probably have amassed a lot of that for free. The imacs possibly not, unless perhaps he worked as an outfitter for school/university computer rooms :-)

About 18-24mo ago OUCS were chucking out their tangerine G3s for about £15 each, IIRC. I wouldn't be surprised if you now could get free G3 iMacs, if as you say you know whom to ask.
