Vroom and bloom
Apr. 10th, 2005 09:30 pmToday was spent at Santa Pod for Run What Ya Brung. Basically, turn up in car (any car), and get lots of printouts of your standing 1/4 mile time, terminal speed, etc etc. And if you have a mate, you can race in parallel. :)
So I dragged Andy out of his house at 8am, and off we went to Santa Pod. After a first go with an entertaining amount of wheelspin (the strip has significantly less grip than public roads), the quest to break 17 seconds began.
Bests:
Reaction time: 0.471 seconds
1/4 mile: 16.985 seconds
Final speed: 85.93 MPH
Worst: 1.168 seconds reaction time - when I went too far on the stage, and thought I could fix this by backing up. Lights went green when I wasn't in gear. :)
Oh, and I've just noticed that I won all of my 4 head-to-head runs. :-D (against Charles' MkI VW Scirocco 1.8, a 2001 silver Polo GTI and a Ford Mondeo 16V.
Charles let me have a go in his Scirocco, too (not on the strip, though ;) ). Vroom!
Photos here - thanks Andy!
Exciting AVI video here - thanks Pilly!
Meanwhile,
saffie1981 was busy being productive in our garden. Photos of the very pretty results here
