1) Have you ever pretended to be worse at something than you actually are, in order to get them to do it for you? 2) Is indifference the greatest insult you can offer someone? (and don't just give me a 'yes' or 'no' answer!) 3) Skirt or trousers? (not on you!)
They're easy questions so being minorly bored I'll answer them myself...
1) Of course. 2) Whatever... No, seriously. I can be a hell of a lot more insulting than pure indifference. With the right insults you can destroy somebody's life, with indifference you can just annoy them a bit. 3) Skirt. Easy access. :) Short of course. I know you didn't ask but I thought I should make it clear. :)
1) I guess I was being a bit pointed with that one :D 2) I feel that indifference is the greatest insult, personally. If someone hates you, at least you *register* in their consciousness, albeit in a bad way. You have enough personality/importance/sheer bloody mindedness to make an impact on their life. Indifference - you don't matter *at all*. You may as well not exist. 3) Should have guessed :) Stockings too, then?
2) That sounds to me like a text book answer. Something I would agree with in general but when you actually get down to a good insult that can drive you into a burning rage when it is uttered, its hard to really imagine that til you get that kind of insult. That's just a personal opinion of course but I guess that's all you can get. I can be insulted much more than by indifference. Maybe its all those years of wishing people would ignore me... :)
3) Stockings aren't necessary. Well, not unless there is an implicit only alternative of tights. Tights are evil and shouldn't be allowed. Bare legs are nice though. Better than stockings. :)
1) God, I'm so transparent! 2) No, no text book. Honest opinion. I'm not saying direct insults don't hurt me - they really do. I'm not *that* secure. I just honestly think that when people don't care, it's the lack of the quantum of solace that wounds the most (can't remember where that quotation comes from). That, and I'm also an attention-seeking little madam. 3) Yeah, I meant instead of tights. I object to tights because they never seem to make them long/tall enough, leading to waddling in the street, as the waistband coils itself around your knees. Elegant.
1) Well, not that transparent, it just struck me as not being so much out of interest as because you wanted to know if that makes sense. I suspect the distinction isn't very obvious to any but me though. :)
2) Sorry, didn't mean to imply you hadn't thought about it. Just that it seems like the sort of answer you might find in a text book or something and I far too often disagree with text books on this sort of thing. Then again I know I am a bit "special" on a lot of worldview type things. :)
3) You don't wear tights? You're going up and up in my estimation you know.
1) Not that I recall. If anyone remembers a specific incident, however, feel free to point it out. :) I may have pretended to myself (or convinced myself) that I wouldn't be any good at something, but that's slightly different, I suppose.
2) I certainly hope so, as the times when I dislike someone, I seem to ignore or avoid them rather than rising to them. :-)
3) Hmm. I'm going to answer this one with an even worse cop-out, and say I like both for different reasons. They accentuate different things and, erm, I'll tell you in person. :)
1) If you had to rescue Faye from a burning property and let the dream car you'd always fantasised about and just bought burn, would you (so to speak) hold it against her? 2) What would you do if you walked into a public toilet and found George Michael engaging in lewd behaviour? 3) Which female member of the Friends cast is most attractive, and why?
1) If she had set fire to the property, of course I would :-). Otherwise, no.
2) I'd probably ask him for an autograph, if he had a hand free. Either that or run away.
3) Well, I can only name one member of the Friends cast, and that's the one who was in those because I'm worth it ads. Phoebe? Having had a quick look at a photo of the Friends cast, I think I'd have to say it would be her. And why - I'm not generally very good at picking individual features that make someone attractive to me, but she has very nice eyes, and her smile looks a little more enigmatic than the others. :-)
1) If you were told that you could never drive again (eg for medical reasons) what would be your first thought?
2) If you were to go back in time to half an hour before you heard of OxIRC, knowing what you know now (including any opinions you have about your own studying success), would you /join?
3) What car would you most like to have never even crossed the designer's mind?
1) "Oh no!" :-) I think I would do two things. Firstly, try to find someone to drive me fast as a passenger as often as possible in a variety of interesting cars, and secondly try to find another hobby.
2) This is, indeed, a tricky bugger. If I'm honest, I think it's reasonably certain that I can at least partly blame my degree on OxIRC. Also, if I had not discovered OxIRC so early, I would have college rather than OxIRC friends predominantly. Having said that, I am in a good place now, and while I regret not having made a better go at biochemistry, I have a wonderful girlfriend, great friends and a good job, so I think I can count myself lucky, all told.
3) I'm not sure if I can pass judgement on this for a single car because, well, most cars were designed by someone doing their best to fill the specification, be it a beautiful sports car or a cheap solid runabout for the masses. Going on looks alone, I think the Fiat Multipla is one of my least favourite, but I hear it's practical and spacious, so I won't hold that against it. Least well-meaningly conceived, I suppose, would have to be the particularly offensively big SUVs such as the Lincoln Navigator - probably not actually that good offroad.
