brrm!
Friday was a trip to the RA for wol's birthday. After this, I gave a lift to
Decided shortly before lunch that it looked like a nice day, so called an impromptu meet of what appears to be a growing MG owners' club among my friends (it's not my fault, honest!). So my MG (containing me and
This was followed by a brisk and fun jaunt back to Oxford, with the bright orange Midget taking the lead. And it's certainly a nippy little car, I was having fun chucking the GT into the bends to keep up. There are very few things in life tha, for me, beat a drive in the country with a (trusting!) friend in the passenger seat. It may surprise you to learn that not all of these things involve cars.
Having got to bed far too late on Saturday evening, I surfaced far too early on Sunday. So I pottered around for the morning, tidying a little, IRCing. Isn't my life exciting?
Demonstrated the Lisa, although she was being a little reluctant to stop flickering and give us a steady image on the screen.
Then demonstrated my Victorian ceremonial sword, which in turn appeared reluctant to give up all its curious markings, until held at exactly the right angle to the light.
A tour of this house doesn't take that long, but was given, including the fish, which were hungry enough to nibble at anything poked in their direction, such as fingers.
All too soon it was time to dispatch
The overdrive always seems to be appreciated as a cool feature, and indeed it was. Flick the little switch, the engine note changes, and surge forward.
Took the liberty of getting a little close to airborne on a humpback bridge, too. Whee!
Returned home, realised how insanely tired I was at an unusually early hour (for me), and collapsed into bed.
Went round to Dave & Dom's house this evening for Gone In 60 Seconds, having watched an end-of-series Right Car/Wrong Car with a budget of UKP 100,000. As I commented, the great thing about being into cars is that you get pr0n on primetime television. And in DVDs you can watch with your friends. :)
Then we had a little poke at the orange Midget, discovered one or more of the previous owners had a rather cavalier attitude to wiring (e.g. a live wire in the cockpit, stripped and ready to short on a handy bit of bodywork. Unearthed an air horn of all things, which we stripped and reassembled, which fixed the motor. However, for some reason or another, the air pumped out fails to make the horn sounds. Perhaps cleaning the horn will help.
The rest of the week is fairly planned-out, too. Tomorrow (15th April) is the day my MSc (or lack of it) result appears. Worring about that. Worry worry.
Thursday I'm off to Cambridge, where I'll pick up the Morris from its MOT and welding session with Ian Allen, and stay the night before picking parents up from Stansted airport. Then it's off to my granny's in Norfolk for the Easter weekend.
Phew. long entry with actual content. I hope the people who claim I never post content are happy now. :-)
Update:
It seems the worrying was needless. I went to Brookes this morning, and found out that I do indeed have my MSc. Woo, and indeed, woo!

I only got scared once, on that corner...
Took the liberty of getting a little close to airborne on a humpback bridge, too. Whee!
Twice in two days?
Hmm I seem to get Cam and Norfolk mixed up lots with respect to you.
I already said good luck wrt to MSc on IRC, but I'll say it again here. G'luck.
