Drive it Day

A heads-up to those of you with classic vehicles. This Sunday (23rd April) is the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs' annual Drive it Day. This is "not a protest against the EU or against fuel taxes or anything else - the purpose of the day is to emphasise the size and importance of the historic vehicle movement in this country." Some clubs are organising specific events for the day - check the list of events to see if there is something near you. Go and ogle the shiny cars if there is one near you and you don't have one yourself ;-).
So get out there in your old bangers this Sunday - go to a country pub or just for an aimless pootle. Sadly I'll have to give it a miss - the Morris has been SORNed[1] until my dad (its current caretaker) has the Tuits to get it MOTed, and the MG is still having the finishing touches put to it by Richard in Wantage.
[1] SORN = Statutory Off-Road Notification. Cars in the UK are required either to be 'on the road' - i.e. taxed and tested, or the DVLA has to be notified that they are 'off the road' - i.e. you can no longer let them lapse even if you are not using the car or keeping it on public roads. (This does not apply to cars that were off the road before the SORN system came in).
