Pictures of you
Jun. 23rd, 2003 12:52 amI just spotted this on the oxford webcam image that I have embedded in my bookmarks page. It hadn't reloaded for a while, but this image from 9:06pm struck me as rather pretty. A grey cloudy dusk sky, unlit buildings, and the almost-incongruous river of bright colours that is the High Street, the dampness of the street reflecting the lights.

As I continue my search for employment, I'm now considering widening my target to include cities other than Cambridge. However, I'm quite attached to this city, the people in it, and the fact that it's the longest I've lived in one place since about 1989. It's nice to feel I *belong* somewhere, at least for the moment.
Went with pilly to Rockingham Speedway this weekend, to see the qualifying of the British Touring Car Championships (photos here - warning, many thumbnails totalling 900k-ish), as well as a number of subsidiary races. A fun weekend, though the vibration in my MG's steering is getting quite bad at speed now. I think I shall have to look into wheel balancing, and maybe new tyres while I'm at it; swap the current fairly new fronts to the back, which need replacing.
Polished the MG. Went to a very silly play, comprising the OULES/CULES varsity match. First act performed by Cambridge, second act by Oxford, third act by both. Much entertainment and general carnage, and the amusing Spurious Words board, where players had to insert the specified words into their XYLOPHONE performance. Oxford won, after a draw was settled by a game of Rock/Paper/Scissors (which itself had two or three draws to start with).
Update:

I meant: To include cities other than Oxford and Cambridge. Whoops. ;-)
