It's not so much the climate-changing aspect that bothers me about the larger 'SUV's, though, but their sheer size. I've attempted in the photos to get this across. In particular, the fact that the bonnet of the one in the pictures is at head height for the driver of a car such as my Rover, also pictured. What they do to cyclists, motorcycles and pedestrians, I really would rather not think about. Mercifully, whoever owns this behemoth has not fitted it with child^Wbull bars. This height is not only physically unsafe, but it hinders the visibility of other drivers at t-junctions and roundabouts.
And now the Hummer H2 has made it into this country, it seems we are turning into america, where SUVs now make up 50%-ish of new "car" sales.

They're pretty disconcerting to cycle past, yes, since they're more or less at head height to me too.

At least that one fits in a parking bay, unlike the Porsche SUV opposite me in the supermarket car park yesterday 8-/

One of the advantages of being someone who rarely drives except on holiday is that parking spaces in the US have to be large to accommodate such monstrosities. So parking an ordinary car is a doddle.

Then get yourself an SUV so you can see as well as they can. Duh.

(Actually, one of the nice things about cycling is being at a similar height to the tank-drivers).
