New adventures in medium format
Jul. 20th, 2003 09:36 pmI am sitting on the balcony in Waldhilsbach, writing this on my laptop with wireless. There is an awning above me, and around me, a storm is well underway. The echoes of thunder rolling along a small valley, panning from one side of my view to the other are nature's best hi-fi experience. The rain is coming down in buckets, releasing that sweet, sweet smell from the earth.
The rain has abated now. The church bell tolls a single stroke for half-past, while the thunder rumbles more quietly and slowly from behind the house and along the valley walls. There is just a light drizzle of rain now, accompanied by the drip, drip, drip of water from the roof of the house. Suddenly, a bright flash, followed by a loud, crisp crunch of thunder from behind me.
This is my last night at homehome, we set off for the airport at some terrible hour tomorrow morning. The weather has been fantastic, reaching up to 36.8°C, and the thunderstorm caps it off nicely.
I have been playing with a medium format camera today - here are two of the not terribly-well-scanned results:

The chapel in the cemetery at the top of our road.

The field/orchard next to our house.
