I was driving back from Tesco, having done my boring weekly shop. The rain fell slow, down on all the roofs of uncertainty.

Then my mobile rang. Voicemail. "This is Claire from the Oxford Internet Institute. Could you call me back on <foo>, please?"

I phone back.

I get offered a job.

I accept.

That is all.

So I turned up my music (Cure - Friday In Love), and drove home with tears of joy.
It's taken 12 whole months, but finally I've done it.

Phew.
Harcourt Arms this evening, for those who are in the right city.

Thanks :).

It's "Assistant ICT (Information & Communications Technology) officer", which appears to be a kind of fusion between IT support, sysadminny stuff, and web stuff. Looks well suited to me, anyway. :)

Not really something I am qualified for really. Its the whole "degree relevant to social research on the internet" and I doubt "Spent most of my degree dossing on IRC" counts for that really. :)

And it looks like I'll be starting early next week, having phoned them. Pending references and that sort of thing.
