This weekend, saffie1981 and I went on a lightning break to Kilchoan, to stay in a cottage belonging to my godmother. Kilchoan is on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The village is very small and isolated (~150 inhabitants, and reached by about 40 miles of single-track road with passing places). Although the journey there and back was on the long side, it was well worth it. The view from the bedroom window of the island of Mull was, as you can see, quite a sight to wake up to.

We also paid a visit to Tobermory, a picturesque little port on Mull, a 45 minute ferry ride from Kilchoan. Many pretty shops selling pretty things. Oh, and a distillery. Back at the cottage, we could put our feet up in front of an open fire, with a nice record on the turntable, watching the light fade on the fantastic view, sipping a glass of whisky on the rocks - ice made with peaty tapwater almost as brown as the whisky itself.
As ever, there are some photos. Also not to be missed is the panorama taken from the hill directly behind the cottage.

A welcome break indeed.

I really want to do it again, so I can spend another week cooking for 24+, drinking all night in front of a huge fire, going for long walks up the hills, and then chilling in the pool & sauna.
And rescuing bats from the pool...
