While I was clearing out my garage the other week, I came across some packing cases filled with newspapers from 1979. The Wantage Herald, the Shropshire Star and the Huntingdon Trader.

There's something for everyone here - cars, computers, real ale, John and Norma Major, Badger clothing (not like that), scantily clad women, house prices, jobs, Lucky Tony and the latest in portable tech.

Enjoy!

A slice of 1979

I like "Your own computer installed and working – from only £30per week!"

'The Wantage Herald' sounds oddly as though it ought to be an album title to me..

I like your portrait pics, incidentally. Maybe it's because I watched Shadow of the Vampire last night, but they make you look very Jonathan Harker :)

Fabulous! What _is_ that doorstop that Paxton Computers are offering at a mere £30 per week? Looks like a horrible TRS-80 clone to me.

Looks like 'Elbit' on the badge. Not something I've come across before. And £30/week ain't cheap in today's money... :-)

My car cost £6500 in 1980, there are spitfires for sale at £3500 - that puts the price in perpective!
