Returned a few hours ago from all-weekend partying in Cambridge for [livejournal.com profile] j4's birthday. I wasn't feeling partyish (tiiiiired) for all of it, but the bits for which I was were cool. Saturday night saw me more gothed up than I've been before (I Am Not A Goth) - wearing all black, plus metallic purple nails and (new for me) eyeliner, expertly applied to a nervous Art by [livejournal.com profile] lnr. I fear this won't be the last time. And [livejournal.com profile] j4 was looking very slinky in lycra, a leather corset (good for drumming fingers across, yes) and BIG SCARY BOOTS. Met some people I hadn't met before, felt some shiny blades and, which I'm sure you've all been skipping through the above to find, took some photos:

Very very cool cake, too (I got to munch Patricia's grille).

On Sunday, I brought my Morris over to say hello to [livejournal.com profile] pto452, and gave it (mine) a much-needed wash. Lazed around mostly in the garden, read bits of the Times, absorbed the sunshine. Then it was time to take it back to the garage and set off to Oxford. Then return to pick up my forgotten camera (oops), say goodbye again, and then head to Oxford. Which I managed in a record time (for me) of 1 hour 30 minutes. My previous record (in the Morris) was 1h45.

Christ man, it took me just under two hours and I was impressed, which way do you go?

We kept passing curvy green cars and looking in them.

Cambridge -> Bedford -> Milton Roundabout -> Buckingham -> Bicester -> Oxford.

I think it's slightly quicker Cam->Ox, as that is nicely signposted to bypass Bicester. I've still not yet worked up the effort to look up how to bypass Bicester in the other direction (the bypassing route is new since I've been doing that run).

Ah, well, I was in a blue, non-curvy car. My mother was threatening to give my dad grief if I took the morris, so I didn't.

Ah yes, on balance that would be a good deal quicker than A14->A43->A45, wouldn't it... the latter has the advantage of going past my house though, so less likely to get lost.
