I'm fairly used to this sort of encounter at the top of St Giles', so use extra vigilance and don't generally go very fast. This was one of the closer ones, though, and happened to be caught on camera. Watch for the stoppie. :-)

So can you get 24V air-horns with compressors fitted to bikes?

Until thieving bastards nicked and stripped my bike, I had an Air Zound, which is quite shockingly loud. I have also considered whether it's possible to wire some sort of horn to my dynohub, though, to save having to recharge the Air Zound's air bottle all the time.

That idiot had plenty of time to see you coming, and deliberately went through. If I see N 875 MLG on my travels I'll give them a toot on my horn on your behalf ;-)

Actually, it appears to be N875 HLG, having looked at the original video. I'm impressed you got that much from the smaller version, though. :-)

Yep, I have an Oregon Scientific ATC2k camera attached to my handlebars. Brought over from the US by a friend, so only around 50 pounds, instead of 100.

... would it fit on a Brompton? Folded?

Having eyeballed it with my Brompton, I reckon it would fit - though you'd probably have to take the camera off its mount (it's similar to removable battery-powered headlight fittings) when the Brompton was folded, or it'd stick out a bit. Couldn't actually try transferring the fitting, though, as it seems I'd done up the thumbwheel tighteny thing a bit tight. Oops!

Have you reported it to the police? The video would seem to be ideal evidence for a driving with undue care and attention charge.

I thought they were all to busy pulling over people doing 42 in 40 zones to actually do anything about dangerous drivers.

That's the only thing that's giving me pause about potentially moving back to North Oxford - the thought of braving that road fork again. And going the back way past Keble etc means you've got the KA corner to run too. For a city with so many bicycles, Oxford really is not cycle-friendly!
